Another sweet win at home, one that propelled us to the top of the table. We are now in the slog overs of the tournament. KKR has played two games in three days and we will be playing another three in the next seven.
Sadly, Brad had to leave us with a fractured finger. He is such a tough competitor that he had been playing through pain after sustaining the injury in the Bangladesh tour. Only the fact that an x-ray revealed that he could do further and permanent damage stopped him from continuing with us. Brad played just one match for us, but we are already looking forward to his presence in the dressing room over the next three years.
We did pick up a great cricketer in Mark Boucher. Tons of experience in international cricket and the IPL – and a great year for the Western Warriors make him the perfect replacement for Brad. And thankfully we had Jacques in the team, who could immediately trace him to a remote location close to East London. Mark will join us in Hyderabad and should be ready for the match on the 3rd.
Perhaps the best news so far is that we have had five different MOM’s in the five matches we have won. And while you always know that stars like Gambhir and Kallis will come to the party – it’s watching Balaji, Manoj and Iqbal also get their just rewards that brings a big smile to Dav’s lips. Hope the boys keep him smiling over the next few days.
