Home loss is never easy to absorb, specially after restricting the opposition to 130 odd. However, our captain, Gautam,  did not try to hide behind any excuses about the pitch, saying that there was nothing wrong with the wicket, and the fault was squarely with the team’s batting .

The quick turn around between games makes for a strange situation. At one level players need to introspect about what they did right or wrong on the field in the last game. On the other hand, they also need to focus on the game coming up as soon as possible. Great coaches make sure both happen, and in Dav Whatmore we have one of the finest.

Brett’s four year old son Preston was here to visit his father, and even came to a practice at the Eden Gardens. He was a real delight and converted the hotel into a racing course for his remote controlled Ferrari. He hits a mean ball as well.

International players travel so much that every day that they get with family is precious, and all teams try to see that their cricketers get as much family time as reasonably possible. Gautam Gambhir has slept in his own house just about 6six times in the last six months and would really be looking forward to our visit to Delhi.
